Trip Description
A Once-in-a-Lifetime Journey Beneath the Shadow of the Moon
On 2 August 2027, Egypt will become the stage for one of nature’s most spectacular celestial events. The path of totality will pass directly over Luxor, where travelers can witness up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds of total solar eclipse — an extraordinary duration that makes this one of the most remarkable eclipse experiences of the century.
Designed as an exclusive 9-day journey, this carefully curated itinerary combines Egypt’s timeless archaeological treasures with the rare opportunity to witness totality against the backdrop of ancient temples and thousands of years of history.
Cairo | The Beginning of an Extraordinary Adventure
Your journey begins in Cairo, where a private Egyptologist guide introduces you to the extraordinary legacy of ancient Egypt.
Explore the magnificent Great Pyramids of Giza, stand before the mysterious Sphinx, and discover the treasures of the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to one of the world’s most extraordinary collections of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the complete golden treasures of King Tutankhamun.
Luxor | Witness History Under a Darkened Sun
Continue south to Luxor, the legendary city of temples and pharaohs.
Discover the grandeur of Karnak Temple, explore the magnificent Luxor Temple, and journey into the ancient necropolis of western Luxor to visit the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the imposing Colossi of Memnon.
Then comes the defining moment of the journey.
On 2 August 2027, take your place at Karnak Temple for a truly extraordinary celestial spectacle. As the moon moves across the sun, daylight will gradually fade and the shadow of totality will sweep across the monumental columns of one of the greatest religious complexes ever constructed.
For up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds, the ancient landscape of Luxor will be transformed beneath a completely eclipsed sun — creating an unforgettable encounter between the wonders of the cosmos and 5,000 years of Egyptian history.
Aswan & Abu Simbel | Ancient Wonders Along the Nile
Continue to Aswan, where the tranquil beauty of the Nile provides a striking contrast to the monumental history surrounding it.
Visit the enchanting Temple of Philae, beautifully situated on an island, before continuing to the magnificent temples of Abu Simbel, commissioned by Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From Aswan, embark on a four-night Nile cruise, sailing north through the timeless landscapes of Upper Egypt. Along the way, discover the remarkable temples of Kom Ombo and Edfu, while enjoying the comfort and serenity of life aboard the Nile.
Cairo | Egypt’s Living Heritage
Return to Cairo for the final chapter of your journey and discover another side of Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.
Visit the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, home to the remarkable Royal Mummies Hall, before exploring the historic neighborhoods of Old Cairo and discovering its unique Coptic and Islamic heritage.
Your final experience takes you to the historic Salah El-Din Citadel, where you can admire the elegant Alabaster Mosque and enjoy sweeping panoramic views across Cairo.

The Egyptian government and UNESCO decided to co-operate in order to save these two temples from the flood that threatened to submerge them because of the Aswan Dam.
The Temples of Abu Simbel are dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and to Ramses II himself. The great Temple of Ramsses II is also called the Sun Temple of Ramesses II. The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also called the Temple of Hathor who was the wife of the Sun God, so in a symbolic way, the two Temples, that of Ramsses II and that of Nefertari bring Ramesses II, Nefertari, Hathor, and the Sun God together.
